About Home

Who we Are

The ISKCON Hawaii Temple is a nonsectarian community dedicated to spiritual education and promoting unity and peace in the world through chanting the mahã mãntra, distributing sanctified vegetarian food and propagating spiritual knowledge and practices based on the ancient Vedic teachings of Bhakti Yoga, as presented by

His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

ABOUT ISKCON HAWAII

In 1969, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder-acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, begun distributing the matchless gifts of Krishna Consciousness across the Hawaiian Islands. Wherever he traveled in the world, Srila Prabhupada devoted the early morning hours to translating and expounding India’s ancient Vedic literature. Between 1974 and 1976, His Divine Grace performed that sacred duty here in Honolulu, Hawaii making these grounds a holy place (tirtha).

Our Founder

(AcHarya)

When Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

first arrived by freighter in New York City in 1965, His Divine Grace was practically penniless. It was after almost a year of great difficulty that he established the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in July of 1966. Under his careful guidance, the Society grew within a decade to a worldwide confederation of almost one hundred asramas, schools, temples, institutes and farm communities.

About

Bhakti Yoga

Bhakti Yoga harmonizes the mind with the true loving, devotional nature of the soul by connecting it with God through meditation, acts of service, hearing sacred texts, engagement in meaningful ritual, communing with like-minded people and absorption in spiritually centered cultural arts.
